Understanding the interface

A complete guide to the SyncWave studio interface and its components.

The SyncWave studio is designed to be intuitive while providing powerful features. Here's a breakdown of each component:

Transport Bar

Located at the top of the studio, the transport bar contains:

Track List (Left Panel)

The track list shows all tracks in your project. Each track displays:

- **Track color** - Visual identifier (click to change)

- **Track name** - Double-click to rename

- **Instrument** - Click to change instrument

- **Volume slider** - Adjust track volume

- **Pan knob** - Set left/right balance

- **Mute (M)** - Silence the track

- **Solo (S)** - Listen to only this track

Arrangement View (Center)

The main workspace where you arrange your music:

- **Timeline ruler** - Shows bars and beats

- **Regions** - Colored blocks containing MIDI notes

- **Playhead** - Vertical line showing current position

- **Grid** - Helps align regions to beats

Working in the arrangement:

- **Click** to position the playhead

- **Drag** regions to move them

- **Double-click** to open the piano roll

- **Scroll** horizontally to navigate the timeline

- **Zoom** with Cmd/Ctrl + scroll

Piano Roll (Note Editor)

Double-click any region to open the piano roll:

- **Vertical axis** - Piano keys (pitch)

- **Horizontal axis** - Time (beats)

- **Notes** - Colored rectangles representing MIDI notes

- **Velocity** - Note loudness (shown as color intensity)

Mixer Panel

Access by clicking the mixer icon:

- **Channel strips** for each track

- **Master volume** control

- **VU meters** showing audio levels

- **Effects sends** (Creator plan)
