Creating your first project

Learn how to create a new project and start making music in SyncWave.

Welcome to SyncWave! Here's how to create your first project:

Step 1: Sign up or log in

If you haven't already, create a free account at [syncwave.app/signup](/signup). You can sign up with:

- Email and password

- Google account

- GitHub account

Step 2: Open the Studio

After logging in, you can access the Studio in several ways:

- Click **"Start creating free"** on the homepage

- Click **"Studio"** in the navigation bar

- Go directly to [syncwave.app/studio](/studio)

Step 3: Create a new project

1. Click the **"New Project"** button

2. Enter a name for your project (you can change this later)

3. Set your preferred tempo (BPM) - default is 120 BPM

4. Choose a time signature (4/4 is most common)

Step 4: Add your first track

1. Click the **"+ Add Track"** button at the bottom of the track list

2. A new track will appear with a default piano instrument

3. Click the instrument name to change to a different instrument

Step 5: Start creating!

You can create music in several ways:

- **Draw notes** in the piano roll by double-clicking a region

- **Play live** with a connected MIDI keyboard

- **Use the drum machine** for beat creation

Your changes are saved automatically - no need to manually save!

Invite collaborators

Want to make music with friends? Click the "Share" button to:

- Generate an invite link

- Set permissions (view, edit, admin)

- Collaborate in real-time

That's it! You're ready to start making music with SyncWave.
